Velvet Mortenwold: i have pressing business, Oscar. You will entertain Velvet for me
Vain Adder nods to Victor. "Yes sir."
Velvet Mortenwold hides the fact her eyes brighten. she looks to the floor as if disappointed
Vain Adder speaks to Velvet after Victor leaves. "I have a horse harnessed up and would like to take you for a tour of the countryside. I have a lunch made up for us as well."
Velvet Mortenwold offers in her musical lilt, "I should like that"
Vain Adder leads her out to the small two wheeled cart and the sharp looking bay ready to take them out for the day. Placing the basket of goodies under the seat, he offers her a hand up into the cart. "Ladies first."
Velvet Mortenwold takes his hand and climbs up into the cart, "Thank you"
Vain Adder smiles one of his rare smiles, the ones he only ever shows her when they are fortunate enough to be alone. He heads over to the other side and climbs in, sitting next to her on the seat and with a flick of the reigns, they head off at a good trot. Along the route he points out landmarks and places that seem to be long gone.
Velvet Mortenwold smiles as he points out each
Vain Adder drives the horse along to a small woodlot at the far end of the loch, stopping just outside a run down cottage. "I thought we could eat lunch here, then we'd have an hour before we have to head back."
Velvet Mortenwold smile broadens at the cottage, "It's perfect. Hmm no owner to be found either and looks like there hasnt been in some time." Her brow furrows, "a shame really as it seems like someone once care for it"
Vain Adder nods as he steps inside the old stone walls of the building, past what was left of the door. "A very long time." He mumbles, walking to the small fireplace and looking at it.
Velvet Mortenwold wraps her arms around her lover and nuzzles him
Velvet Mortenwold: You speak as if you know how long
Vain Adder holds the small young woman close and kisses her. "Mmmm... just local tales is all." He looks up at the fireplace and sighs. "I lived here when I was younger, I know the lore and the lay of the land.... the history."
Velvet Mortenwold returns the kiss, "Tell me. I wish ti know the stories"
Vain Adder nuzzles at her happily for time, and he was happy when he was with her. "I will tell you the stories over lunch, head outside and I will be right there. Sound good?"
Velvet Mortenwold does as bidden striding outside in the care free fashion she only exhibits alone with him
Vain Adder takes the moment away from her side to remove a stone from the hearth and shoves a pouch inside, replacing the stone once more. He turns and heads out to be with his young lover and spreads the blanket out for them. "We have all sorts of nice things today, cheeses, bread, fruit and a bottle of wine." He starts to pull the items from the basket and smiles at her.
Velvet Mortenwold sits in the mannerly fashion which is like a second second. She smiiles at the fine fare she would share with her love. Their time together seem so limit of late and Velvet has not felt as well as usual
Vain Adder fixes her a plate with sliced cheeses on bread, topped with a bit of lettuce and arranges some sliced fruit on the plate as well. He holds it out to her to take and his eyes seem to hold a warmth for her alone. "One of the stories about this cottage is a brave young warrior lived here once, he fought in many battles and perhaps even died here."
Velvet Mortenwold takes the offered sliced cheeses and bread and seems to smile with equal warmth, "A warrior you say?"
Velvet Mortenwold samples a bit of the fruit as well, "The fare is fantastic Thank you"
Vain Adder nods. "You are welcome and yes, a warrior. He fought valliantly against the British many times, trying to keep them out of Scotland."
Velvet Mortenwold quirks an eyebrow as she listens intently, "What was his name?"
Vain Adder glances at her a moment. "Bloodsmoore, though the history of his family is starting to fade, he never married and its rumored he died at the battle of Dupplin Moor. No actual records have ever been found of his existance, yet some tales are still told to this day."
Velvet Mortenwold tilts her head, "Bloodmoore, I've heard that name. My family once mentioned, but that was a long time ago. What tales are still told?"
Vain Adder pours a glass of wine and hands one to her, pouring another for himself. He chuckles, the puts on a bit of a Scottish accent. "Narry a man of his like to be seen, could run across the battle field like a beast and cleave a man in half with a sword."
Velvet Mortenwold eyes widen, "I can imagine. Enemies must have fallen in droves. The bloodshed must have been incredible"
Vain Adder takes in a deep breath and stares out over the moors. "Oh yes, any battle is like that. These new weapons, you don't see the enemy up close and smell his breath.... Or so I am told."
Velvet Mortenwold shakes her head, "Indeed no honor any more"
Vain Adder moves a little closer to her, letting her rest against his chest. "He was described as a stout man, with ink black hair. Could run in battle all day and not seem to grow tired. A man of honor."
Velvet Mortenwold runs her hand through his hair contentedly. The fresh air seems fantastic to Velvet. She smiles as she imagines, "Ink black hair like yours?"
Vain Adder brushes her cheek with his fingertips. "Yes, quite a lot like mine actually. I could imagine it would be down though, long and flowing in the wind. I sure the locals painted quite a picture of him, who knows what he really looked like."
Velvet Mortenwold leans into the touch, "Whatever he looked like he cant have been as handsome as you"
Vain Adder leans in close to kiss her, the taste of the wine still on his tongue. "You flatter me, I am just Oscar Scarbridge, hired muscle."
Velvet Mortenwold returns the kiss deeply tasting the wine with him, "You are my love and my life"
Vain Adder nuzzles at her neck, kissing at it slowly. "I devote my life to you alone Velvet." He stops kissing her and sighs. "We need to start heading back though, if we are gone much longer Victor will get suspicious."
Velvet Mortenwold brow furrows, "I despise Victor. I devote my life to you alone"
Velvet Mortenwold whispers, "Say that one day we will be free"
Vain Adder takes a delecate hand and kisses it. "One day I know we will my adored, I would fight for it tooth and nail. I would do whatever it takes to give you the life you deserve."
Velvet Mortenwold kisses him again on the cheek, "As long as I am with you, I would be happy"
Vain Adder glances back at the cottage. "If we are ever seperated, there is a stone in the hearth about shoulder level to you. I will leave you word on how to find me always." His eyes look down into hers, the tone of his voice very serious.
Velvet Mortenwold shakes her head, "We will not be separated. We are one always"
Vain Adder smiles, his grey eyes normally so cold, held a warmth for her alone. "That's my Velly, the optimist." He kisses her once more, then pulls away to gather up the remnants of their meal. "I still like to plan ahead, just in case the need ever arrives."
Velvet Mortenwold traces his face and returns the kiss, "I wont forget and i wont fail to find you again"
Vain Adder helps her back on her feet and carries the basket over to the patiently waiting horse. The journey back would be one that weighed heavily on his heart as he wished he could take her away now, but the time was not yet right. His nest egg was safely hidden away and He could return to it any time they needed.
